Here in Cairns that is about right in regards to looking at the pieces before Christmas with one rehearsal a week. After Christmas, it becomes twice a week, with sectionals added in there for good measure. All members then take leave from work for 2 weeks and we travel to the city of the contest about a week before and go into camp. This allows us to have 3 sessions a day, of full rehearsals. It is a bit unusual but with the varied form of work among members and the sporting opportunities we have in the tropics we find that it is the only time we really can get a full band to rehearsals. :-)) Cheers Mick Wheeler Cairns Brass http://www.cairnsbrass.org.au From: Roy Taylor : Bands in Australia and NZ tend to start looking at their contest : pieces before Christmas (where possible) for our national : championships held at Easter (a few weeks later in NZ). The serious : rehearsals don't usually get underway until mid/late January and then : usually two per week. : : Cheers, : Roy, : Principal Eupho, Greater Dandenong Band, : Melbourne, VIC, Australia. : www.centurynova.com.au/greaterdandenongband/ --
