I started on a 3C on cornet, but quickly switched to trumpet and then to a 1C equivalent mouthpiece. IMHO, a C cup is a good general purpose cup for a trumpet, but a cornet played with one sounds more like a trumpet than a cornet. IMHO! As I mentioned before, our whole cornet section (excepting possibly our sop) uses Wick B and no letter cup mouthpieces, all deeper than a Bach A cup and the NABBA judges generally seem to like our sound....QED? My opinions only... Guy Clark solo cornet, Illinois Brass Band --
