Those of you who attended Cyberband '97 may remember the run through of Villenelle, the horn solo by Paul Dukas. Dukas died in 1935 which means that his music is still in copyright in the EU. More correctly it went out of copyright under the old 50 years UK rule then came back in again when the EU changed the law. I sought, and was granted, permission to arrange Villenelle for the UK only. However, I've recently been asked about it's use in the US. Does anyone know if I need to seek (pay for) further rights, whether it is still in copyright in the US, or if the law allows me (a non US-Citizen) to sell Dukas' music in the US without any more ado? -Nigel -- Nigel Horne.
