Only someone whose band were "denied" prizes by a lower section band would be so bitter as to accuse that band of stealing prizes - it's a band competition, not a Great Train Robbery :)

Is the whole shebang not run on the same lines as borrowing players for normal contests? i.e. that a 4th section registered player can take part in any section, 3rd section player in 3rd or above and so on?

Oh, St Sebastian are 4th section, so good luck to 'em (http://www.4barsrest.com/articles/art004.asp) and Silk Brass are 3rd Section, fair play to them too.

How long either of them stay down remains to be seen.

As an interesting (?) aside, what should Mercia Brass, Midlands scratch band which we were turning people away from(!) have classified ourselves as?
The breakdown of players was as follows:
Ch section - 2 (neither of whom attended a rehearsal: we just dragged them off the street when no one was looking)
2nd section - 3 (one of which conducted on the stand)
3rd section - 9
4th section - 5
Ungradable bands - 3

It's a bit harsh to automatically throw us head to head against Leyland, YBS and the like just because of people having to cry off to work at the last minute, isn't it?
