RE: Re: Emboucher problems

Hi Simon ..

I'm not an expert on embouchure, just want to pass on a couple of experiences to
you ...

I play a Yamaha 602 horn and have used Wick 2, 3 and 5's and didn't care for the
sound from any of them. I switched to a Bach 3 and find it a much more "open"
and "full-er" sound (brighter, granted) and I prefer it.

As far as placement is concerned, I play 2/3 upper, 1/3 lower, as do most low
brass players, I think.

I had a 20 year lay-off from playing and when I started again a few years ago I
found that my teeth had moved and necessitated a sort of "relocation" of the mpc
on my face. The result is, like you, I have different shapes on each side .. no
buzzing, though.

I've not tried to "correct" any if this, I just keep on playing, working at
getting better and don't worry about it!

Hope this helps
