Rehearsal weekend and percussion course with Simone Rebello

The North Cheshire Concert Band, UK, will be holding its annual rehearsal
and training weekend in Anglesey from Fri 8th to Sunday 9th Feb 2002. None
band members are more than welcome to attend, of particular note (sic) is
the Percussion course, to be run by Simone Rebello, on the Saturday. The
cost of the full weekend includes two nights accommodation and meals.

The North Cheshire Concert Band is holding its 5th consecutive rehearsal and
training weekend at the Conwy Centre, Anglesey from Friday 8th  Sunday 10th
February 2002. The event is open to non-members of the NCCB (subject to
sensible numbers) and in the past has attracted in excess of 50 players.
Applications are invited from wind, brass and percussion players

The programme includes:


Full Band Rehearsals

Sectionals & Master-classes with professional tutors

Chamber Music

Big Band

Percussion Recital by Simone Rebello

Full Social Programme




Repertoire will include:

Holst Hammersmith

Wilby Catcher of Shadows

Mussorgsky Pictures at an Exhibition

Milhaud Suite Francaise

And sneak previews of new works by Fergal Carroll and Jukka-Pekka Lehto to
be premiered by the NCCB at the 2002 RNCM BASBWE Conference


This year the renowned percussionist Simone Rebello will be running a
percussion course on the Saturday  please request separate information in
respect of this.

Non-playing participants are welcome to come along, listen to the sessions,
and use the Conwy Centre as a base to explore Anglesey.

Accommodation is in single, twin or family rooms. Participants are welcome
to arrive at the Conwy Centre from 5pm on the 6th, and the first playing
session begins at 8pm. The course will finish around 2pm on the 8th. The
nearest train station is Bangor and lifts can be arranged from there. Lifts
may be able to be arranged from Warrington or Manchester

Costs:

Whole Weekend: 65 (includes 2 nights accommodation, meals and all musical
activities)
Non-Resident: 15 per day including meals

PERCUSSION COURSE

The North Cheshire Concert Band is offering a one day course with the
renowned percussionist Simone Rebello as part of its 5th annual rehearsal
weekend at the Conwy Centre, Anglesey from 8th - 10th February 2002. The
course will take place on Saturday 9th, between 9.30am and 6pm and will
include the following:


Expert tuition on a wide range of percussion instruments

Percussion Ensemble repertoire

Recital by Simone Rebello


Active participants should have some previous experience but the course will
cater for a wide range of abilities and is equally suited to young players
as part of ongoing studies, or as a refresher for more experienced players.
Observers are also welcome. You may register for this course only, or
participate in the wind orchestra and chamber music activities (subject to
numbers) on Friday & Saturday evenings, and Sunday.


Simone Rebello is one of the country's leading percussion virtuosi. She has
an international career, both as a soloist and as a member of the BackBeat
Percussion Quartet. Tours have taken Simone to Japan, USA, New Zealand and
throughout Europe, and she has released 2 solo albums and appeared on
national and international radio and television. With Backbeat, Simone has
won the Royal Overseas League Ensemble Prize and the Concert Artists Guild
Competition in New York. She is also a solo artist and endorsee for
Yamaha-Kemble UK, and in 1998 was the Cosmopolitan Woman of the Year in the
Performing Arts.


Costs:

Percussion Course Only: 25 (including lunch)
Observers: 10 (including lunch)
Accommodation for 1 night: 30 (Friday or Saturday, including breakfast and
evening meal)
Whole weekend: 70 (2 nights accommodation, all meals, percussion course,
other musical activities)

Bursaries may be available in suitable circumstances.
