the guy in question is called dave bentley, and he comes from derbyshire

he played for dyke in the late 70's i believe.

i was there when he got the phone call about going on the ships and since
then i have only seen him a couple of times

the 10 piece brass group he started in the 80's (bentley brass) is still
going, and has some well known members from brass banding in the 80's,
including desfords former cornet player kevin dye, and my good mate drummer
tim mason (ex grimethorpe and jones and crossland)
