This is a three part programme starting on Tuesday 6th Nov on Radio 4 at
1.30pm for 30 mins.  Next part should be Tues 13th, and Tues 20th at the
same times but do check radio listings for confirmation.

Peter Stead examines the social and musical history of the British Brass
Band.
The entrepreneurial skills and vision of two 19th century pioneers were key
figures in the development of arguably the greatest popular music cultural
movement in Britain.
Adolphe Sax's manufacturing and marketing acumen provided a ready source of
affordable instruments, and John Henry Iles' sheer enthusiasm and drive for
all things brass ensured a vibrant future through competitions.
