Is the length of a Bb cornet the same as the length of a Bb bass? Is th=

difference in pitch due to the bore?

It's a quarter of the length (see below for why that is).
What is the difference between a single Bass and a double bass?

A double bass mirrors a cello an octave below. It's double because it's
double length (a doubling of length =3D a halving of frequency =3D loweri=
ng by one octave).

There was an interesting discussion of this on C4's introduction to music=

programme by Howard Goodall over the last month (4 episodes). It was comp=

viewing for all bandsman, a splendid programme which for once was neither=
patronising nor
dumbed down.
