Question:? Would I write ala orchestrally using the clarinets as
"strings".

Many people would advise that a very broad approach would be to treat the clarinets
much the same as you would the cornets in a brass band. Personally I don't think
that's any more correct than treating brass band cornets as strings. Why?

1) It shows a lack of imagination and can lead to older style formulaic transcriptions.
2) A good orchestrator, for any medium, should aim for a sound that convinces that the
written instrument is the correct choice. This is true of transcribers, arrangers and
composers. Remember that the art of the transcriber is to rewrite the piece creating
an end product that sounds as though it was the original - that is to say as though
it no longer sounds as a transcription.
Question?, Tenor troms written in treble or bass clef and are they
concert
pitch in a concert band, or are they transposed as in a brass band.

Concert pitch bass clef (occasionally tenor clef if the line is very high for a number
of bars).
