Hi Nigel and everyone=20

My personal Cornet is a Besson Bb and it tends to sound in tone =
somewhere between a flugel horn and a cornet, I was told it is a low Bb =
cornet. I used to play flugel parts with it when we didn't have a true =
flugel player. I used a B & H cornet unless I was called on to play a =
flugel horn part, which was more often than not. I was so pleased when a =
proper flugel player finally joined the ranks of the Band :)
.
My (our) Band used Boosey and Hawks instruments from soprano =
cornet(dull, it never got because we couldn't and still can't get a =
soprano player) to BBb Bass. Our cornets originally were "Imperial" type =
and the junior players still use them. The Band through a grant from the =
Marion City Council "graduated" to B &H "Soveriegn" cornets at some =
collosal cost(we had 16 cornet players from solo to 3rd cornet) and as =
far as I know, the Band still uses them. The only outside instrument is =
a tenor trombone used by our solo trombonist and it came to the stage =
that if the trombone was to go, so would its player. Needless to say the =
trombone stayed. It took 10 years to swap all our "Imperial"s over to B =
& H "Sovereigns"

I hope this is a help in your enquiry.

Sovereign and the intonation was terrible. He sent the horn back.

I am in the US and wonder what experience people have with the =
Getzen cornets? Other brands and models? I play a Schilke S42 trumpet =
and hope to get a cornet of similar quality.

I am not a professional, just a better than average amateur. I =
would like to play a very good cornet. Thank you for your =
recommendations.
