Just finished a band rehearsal and I managed to try out one of my Kellys - 5G Trombone. All I can say is I wish I did this 6 years ago! So light and the tone produced is incredible! 5G is perfect for hitting those high notes. I will recommend trying one at least because most of the youth band have g...

Its true - ive been playing music for 12 years and ive always blown with my cheeks out (shouldn't do) and I got told i needed to bring them in - well after 12 years I don;t think im going to spend another 12 years perfecting playing with my cheeks in too!

Nothing to do with Top Ds but oh well..

A guy I know locally played 2nd cornet for ages, then went straight to solo. He now plays soprano and it only took him about 2 months to get used to the high notes and the instrument.

I've always played my Top D (Trombone) in 3rd. Slightly shortened as with the Top A.
Never been a problem for me - unless its after a heavy blowing piece....

fair point, but im not going to buy a trombone just for the sake of a 3 person section - not in a me(a)n way but you know what i mean
My mate is goiing to get a new trombone soon, and we both like the same ones, and we've been told they will b perfect for brass bands

I just ordered 2, the 2 available for trombone - 5g and 51d (no idea what they mean or what the difference is between a 4al but for £11 each way it's not really a waste of money to find out.)

Having played the tenor horn for most of my musical career and after playing trombone for the past 5 years, id probably say that either the baritone or tenor horn would be easier to play. the Horn is a reasonable size that doesn't require too much effort to fill, not does it require too much effort ...

Not really much to do with phrasing as such, but I can;t stand it when bands need a 'bass drum' uduring hymns.

That sounds bad! - Bass drums are meant for beats to keep the band in time - not during a hymn where every expression is meant to show.

That's all.. Jut thought i'd comment :D
