Looking for a Brass Band

up until September 2003 I was playing Bass Trombone with the City of Cambridge Brass band and had done for for 3 years. For whatever reason, and the committee have yet to explain it to me, I was replaced with a so called better player who, contrary to the band's constitution was not auditioned.
I am therefore looking for another bamd in this area (Cambridge, London, Suffolk) who might be looking for a Bass Trombone player for their contest line up. By the way I live in Great Dunmow in Essex.

sorry about you losing your position. brass bands tend to be like that though - too much politics, not enough thinking about each other and encouraging each other to do well. Our conductor is constantly having to move people around to keep everyone happy, particularly some people who would rather move another player in than encourage the original player to do well.
It sucks, but it's life

Et tu?

Ive just been kicked out of a band I played for for 11 years. I was trying out on sop, not easy fro second corent but I was making progress. I had the comittee's aproval and the seat was mine. Another sop who was having a blow with the band and who the comittee selected me over is now the sop player. Two 'key' players a bass and a second euphonium threatend to resign if he didn't play. So Ive been asked to step down and play second corent until this guy goes to the army in 6months. (Poinless but I never said they were smart bands people) I'm very upset with the weak comittee and so are a number of my friends.
Though it was a great sorce of pride that I had to talk several players including the solo corent out of resigning over it.
I don't want to play second again, it was boring. So Im looking for a fourth or fith section band who's willing to take on a keen player. In the Rhondda area by prefrance though I'll travel a fair bit if nessessary, I work in treforest.
Being Moved, kicked out, over-looked or whatever.

My sympathies to you when you get "shuffled". My band - in Australia - currently has vacancies for front row cornets so if you can travel to our rehearsals and gigs, we would welcome you with open arms. Our principal has resigned due to personal reasons; next man has announced his retirement and another is a nurse who we hardly ever see these days.
If any of you have a friend or relation that wants to play in a band in Australia, please get him or her to email me.

The other side of the world in a little bit far to travel, I don't think my mini would make it.

Hi Glen,
You drive a mini!!!!! So do I. I have a '78 Clubman. Big loud exhaust, leather sports steering wheel, tinted windows, air horns, and it goes pretty well for a 998cc.
Tell me about yours.
Shame you cant join our band and there would be two minis in the car park during rehearsals and gigs and so on!!!!
Bye
Rod

Hmm, I have two at the moment.
Black 90 mini studio 2, custom dash, union jack, rev counter, stage one kit (2" exaust, alloy water heated manifold, k&n filter and matched needles) 55bhp on the rolling road.
Red 63 Mini 850, fitted with a 1275 GT engine (apparently modified, double valve spring etc) 2" LCB exaust, twin HS2 carbs, rev counter, roll gage 10x7 split rims.
There are still some parts to go on the black one, alloys which need reconditoining and some seats out of a toyota mr2 which need custom brackets made up before they'll fit in.
Ynishir have just asked me to come back and play soprano, but I've agreed to go somewhere else. Difficult decision ahead.
Glenn.
