Band rooms and cost of ownership

We are a small local brass band (a registered charity) of some forty members with aspirations to have our own band room. Our local authority may provide us with a site but we will have raise the funds to erect and maintain the building. One of our first steps in a feasibility study is to attempt to gain some idea of how much a small single storey band room with storage facilities costs to run.

We would be very grateful if any UK bands, owning a band room, of the type we envisage, would be willing to help us with information on their annual expenditure on the facility. Thank you John Rolfe on behalf of Somersham Town Band

We have a small single story band room.

Running costs are not bad for heating lighting etc. Insurance is where it bites you in the butt. Insurers will only insure the property as a bussines, as it has no full time resident. So the insurance costs mega bucks.

It might be worth getting some space in a public building like a comunity center or a boys club. Their insurance will then cover your stuff.
