York Instruments

I see that York Instruments are to be discontinued (see http://www.buffet-crampon.com/en/news.php). I think this is a real shame. I test drove a York horn at NABBA a couple of years ago and was most impressed. True I didn't buy one, but I don't need a new instrument (my trusty sovereign is virtually in mothballs now).

We have a set of I think 5 York Bb cornets at band, all played by the front bench, plus 2 York horns, and 2 York Eb basses. I have to say that whilst the cornets are quite good to play, free blowing, and good tone and tuning etc, I still prefer my old sov! even after nearly 3 years I still feel that my tone is better on the sov even though I don't play it much any more. :(

It is a real shame to have lost York though, we were hoping to fully supply the whole band with York instruments as funds allowed.
