Sorry Nigel I thought that if I had just put "hooray - some common sense at last", people would not understand it, and to do massive snips of the original would have been pointless. So in answer to your comment, yes, I did intend to quote the whole 100 lines of the original text. I am sure after careful thinking, you will agree that the idea of the brass band mailing list is to provide a platform for worthwhile debate over relevant issues to the brass band world today and not reduce its purpose to promote infantile sarcasm.
