| The Renaissance Overture is cast in a truly classical overture
form. It contains some folksong elements from South Africa. Clear part writing
is reminiscent of instrumental renaissance music. Its name is inspired by both
the revival of a band founded by the composer and the African Renaissance
currently being talked about by the South African leadership.
Well known as a South African composer for wind band music, Renaissance Overture is the first offering for brass band by Paul Loeb van Zuilenburg. The overture is playable by all 3rd section or above bands. |
