Dronfield band

Hello,

My sister lives in Sheffield and plays 2nd baritone with Dronfield Band.

I think they have lots of baritones already, but it could be worth a try.

The website is http://www.members.aol.com/dronfieldband/

Wanted - Decent 2nd hand baritone

Hi,

My husband is looking to buy a 2nd hand baritone, preferably a Sovereign but willing to try other makes. He's currently playing a decent Imperial, so only interested in instruments better than that.

I'm aware this is a long shot, there doesn't seem to be many out there.

Thanks

Rebecca

We don't have a full set of band instruments - most people have their own. The other 2nd bari also has an Imperial, one of the 1sts has a 4 valve Yamaha and I think the other 1st has a Sovereign, but I'm not sure. My husband feels that a better baritone would improve his playing. I'm not sure, and h...

Baritones

My husband has been learning the baritone now for a couple of years. He currently has a Boosey and Hawkes Imperial that belongs to band but has been thinking about buying his own. Unfortunatley we don't have the money for a new Sovereign (my instrument of choice) and 2nd hand ones are non-existant. ...

Yes. Why do you ask?

I've been going to the Methodist Church for the last 25 years.

Someone I know has a really great one. It's the brand that just says GIG on it, I have the cornet equivalent. The baritone version is still a hard case, but lighter than normal, and has rucksak straps. I got my cornet one from my local music shop. Not sure where he got his. I'll try and find out Hop...

I heard a man interviewed in the Lord Mayor's parade saying he swopped from the trumpet to the baritone because he was getting old and it was easier.

Don't think I can vote, I've only ever played cornet (and trumpet). Although I can get really high notes on my husbands baritone!

Another thing I can't do (see the triple tonging post).

I'm fairly sure this is a case where you can or you can't. I'm told you have to be able to roll your r's.

As well as cornet, I also play with an adult flute group. We were doing double and triple tonging exercises this week - I'm even worse at it on flute than I am on cornet!

She suggests de-ga de-ga too, but also said some people just can't do it! Makes me feel better!

All I ask of you

Also, does anyone have a Repiano cornet part for 'All I ask of you' from Phantom of the Opera, as published by The Really Useful Group in 1986 (no arranger mentioned!)?
