Getting Started

I need help getting the band's website going. I have bought a domain name and got free hosting apparently! Now what do i do?? Please help a total novice.

Before you start you should be aware that maintaining a web site takes a LOT of time, and is generally a thankless task.

Right that's got the downsides out of the way.

A lot depends on how much computer knowledge you have. Are you an expert or novice in computers (when you said novice I wasn't sure if that's in terms of computers or writing web pages).

I've a few tips at www.bandsman.co.uk/tips.htm, but really they're for after you've got started.

Which operating system are you using? If Linux use Quanta, if Mac use Dreamweaver. I wouldn't use Windows because it's so easy to end up writing sites that only work on Windows, but if you're prepared to accept that risk start with Frontpage before moving up.
