Cornets? whats best?
Cornets? whats best?
i am looking at buying a new cornet and wondered what models are advisable (proffesional) and whether to get silver or laquer
Besson Sovereign
I bought a Sovereign just as soon as I could afford one! Only problem with it is the triggers on 1st and 3rd valve slides - if you get an airlock stopping the slide returning then it isn't as easy to get it back as if you had a finger ring. Still a great instrument though and I think most of the top cornets use triggers these days (except possibly the bach)
I played the old besson sovrign for ages, several infact and they were great. Ive not got my hands on the latest one having moved to sop.
Avoid the yamaha mestoro, what a pile of junk. Ive had 3 in 2 years. The trigger fell off the first one the laquer off the second and the third I passed on though the laquor seemed to be having an advers reaction to sweat and falling off. That being said my yamaha sop is beautiful and doesn't reaquire as much oil as the shilkie one the band gave me? Strange that.
