Can anyone supply/point me in direction/offer any tips on the best way to teach a bass trombonist how to be a second trombonist?
I know you wouldn't want to demote yourselves like this but having carelessly lost our second trombone player, I'm shifting my grade-five-bass-clef-reading companion down the line and we'd like some hints on where to start!
Any study material or techniques would be really useful.
There is no immediate conversion or easy method however there is a tutor I have used called Tutor for the Euphonium by Bonnisseau which gives excercises in treble and bass clef on opposite pages. So if you are a bass clef reader or treble clef reader you can compare your reading. Another method hich is easy and cheap is to buy 2 standard of excellence red books about A$16 each which will get them started. They can be bought in treble and bass clef for comparison purposes. Learning their notes by positions against the lines is the cheats way but will get them started on a few scales.
