Photocopying of music

Post by Ian Stewart »

Re. photocopying of music

Always a contentious issue in the UK! The conventional wisdom here seems
to be that as long as you have bought the original bandset of music ( and therefore the copyright ) this is OK. However I have also been told that you need to get the original publisher's permission. This applies also to enlarging the small ( A5? )marching band music although in this case I was also told that a doctor's certificate supporting poor eyesight would be required!

Can anyone shed any light on the above or at least point me to an informed UK source of information? NB. Have already spoken to PRS who say this is not really their responsibility

As far as I'm aware you are allowed to copy the set of music as long as it is for your own personal use, not to hand over to another band.
