100 Not Out!
Malcolm and I will perform our 100th. recital piece on May 14th. at St. Mary’s Parish Church, Slough.
The lunchtime recital is also our 18th. recital since May 2001 and the 100th. piece will be the premiere of ‘Recollections’ for Euphonium & Organ, written for me by Terry Treherne, my former Musical Director at Alder Valley (Aldershot) Band.
Two other premieres will also feature in the recital, the final movement of a suite called Dances with Europe by Seth Jervis, and ‘The Kiss of Light’ by Australian composer Yvonne Anthony.
Since 2004, I have tried to introduce young, rising talent as soloists to St. Mary’s. These have so far included Alex Seedhouse (euphonium), Ben Tubb & Stephen Lock (tenor horn) and this concert will feature 17 year old Louise Wright, a euphonium player with the Solent Concert Band from Portsmouth.
This concert will be my 2nd. as a performing artist for Willson Band Instruments of Switzerland and will feature the very latest model Euphonium throughout the recital.
On display will be some 8 different vintage Euphoniums dating back too 1891! I will also feature one of these in a rendition of the Rondo from Mozart’s Bassoon Concerto.
The recital is free and starts at 12 noon. Refreshments are served afterwards.
