Festival of Brass, Toronto, Canada
For the third consecutive year the MLBB has been invited to perform at the Festival of Brass (March 10-12) hosted by The Hannaford Street Silver Band
MLBB will be performing March 11, 2006 at 8:00 PM in the Jane Mallett Theatre, Toronto Canada.
And again this year the band will present an all-Canadian program with compositions by James M Gayfer arranged/transcribed for bb by E F Lloyd Hiscock. Original works by Gabriel Major-Marothy and Lloyd Hiscock are on the program and there are 4 world premiers. Featured members of the band will perform solos.
The program includes a performance of Gayfer's Yukon Summer which was premiered at the Festival two years ago. Hiscock's newest piece Lament on Remembering, a piece for Rememberance Day performances, features Dean Tronsgard on Euphonium. Major-Marothy's Suite for Band, which was recorded by HSB is programmed along with his challenging march Michevious Spirit.
