Domain Names

Post by njh »

Folks,

If you're thinking of purchasing your own domain name to point to a site you
set up, always remember to renew the domain, you don't purchase domains for
ever, only for a couple of years or so.

As the maintainer of the Brass Band Portal I am always seeing cases of so
called "domain parking", which can cost a band not only its domain name, but
also the need to reprint stationary, the cost of extra publicity, and possibly
bad publicity if the parker uses it to peddle pornography, drugs, money
making scams or what ever.

The latest case of this seems to have been Knottingly Silver, which was
at http://www.knottingleysilverband.com/, but now has to use
http://www.ksband.co.uk/.

I could say that the best solution is to let Ji-tu handle it all
for you, but that'd be cheap publicity!
