im sure you can do it. you need to understand what to do, and then be able to step away, otherwise people get over concerned with what they read.

why not go to a brass teacher for some lessons.

would be happy to chat to you about it on yahoo/msn

hi,

its so you can play any valved instrument with the notes and valve combinations being the same otherwise - a concert Bb would be a cornets C and a tenor horns G etc.

clarinets are in Bb pitch too and alto sax read a c and instrument plays concert pitch Eb

pic a mouthpiece and get on with it.

you whent from 2nd cornet to sop?

that seems a leap!

new instrument takes time to get used to. regular practice.

pic a mouthpiece and get on with it.

some band people are so narrow minded

"The most easiest job is not on your list. I would have voted for the conductor"

I am not sure different size mouthpieces are te answer......the mouthpiese is the most important bit of equiptment... you need to feel comfortable with it, and get on with it..... but you need to be able to make different 'sounds' on it. surely a good player could sound good on any set up. air suppl...

baritone

I found more use using my ears and embouchure when playing the baritone. you cant blow through it like a trombone.

practice lip flex, and then practice bending notes in and out of tune with your chops.

I would strongly recomend having some lessons..... but

are you new to brass playing? if so.... the range you have for a months playing is very good! for high notes, you need..... Fast Air... and ..... a small appature (sorry my spelling is crap) Air speed - Think about your breathing.... breath low, dont lift your shoulders. - Try blowing a piece of pap...

go back to a smaller mouthpiece.......

an SM3 is bigger than a 4AL.

why not try a 5 AL wick
or a 5G Bach mouthpiece

take your instrument to a good music shop, and ask to try different mouthpieces.
